Bernie's Typing Travels
Description
Bernie's Typing Travels is a game for teaching typing to elementary children themed around time travel. When Bernie the mouse accidentally activates the time machine in Professor Key's lab, parts of her latest experiment are sent back in time. By completing typing lessons, the player can play one of 10 mini-games, and help recover one of the experiment parts.
Time periods include:
- 2000 BC (Tut Tac Toe: 3D Tic Tac Toe against the computer; type the number of the space to pick it)
- 1000 BC (Greek Olympiad: Five events with timing-based actions)
- 750 AD (Pueblo Indian Pinecone Toss: click to throw pinecones at birds to scare them away from your food)
- 1200 AD (Camelot Horse Race: Ride a horse, jump over obstacles, duck under others)
- 1400 AD (Age of Exploration: Dots and Boxes against the computer)
- 1500 AD (Da Vinci's Dilemma: Mastermind)
- 1773 AD (Boston Tea Party: move around the Boston harbor in a rowboat and smash crates of tea)
- 1900 AD (Ellis Island Puzzler: Peg jumping)
- 1937 AD (Amelia's Trip Around the World: side-scrolling flying game; avoid obstacles in the air to make it to the fueling station)
- 1969 AD (Moon Lander, Lunar Lander-style game).
Other sections include:
- Spelling Experiments (three words are displayed, only one spelled correctly; type the word spelled correctly)
- Tips & Tricks (shows videos to help improve posture and typing speed)
- A word processor (This includes alignment, font, font style, font size, and font color options, allows for inserting clip art, and can save/load/print documents.
The game is designed for classroom use, and includes player sign-in options and a teacher tool.
