Builder

Game cover: Builder

Description

Builder is a side-scrolling platformer that incorporates puzzle-solving as a core gameplay element. Movement is tile-based, meaning the player navigates in discrete steps rather than continuous motion. Each move covers either a full tile or a half tile. Jumping is directional - left, up, or right - with each direction assigned to a dedicated button. Once a jump is initiated, it cannot be interrupted.

The objective of each level is to reach the exit, which typically involves solving spatial puzzles. On designated tiles, players can create or remove blocks. The half-step mechanic plays a critical role here, allowing the player to stand partially over empty space to place a block without falling. As the game progresses, new puzzle types based on this mechanics and exploratory elements are introduced. While hazards such as spikes can cause the player to die, there are no restrictions on the number of lives, allowing for unlimited retries.
