Description

Microzine is an educational disk-based magazine published by Scholastic between 1983 and 1992. Each issue generally contains a simple adventure game, often with a Choose Your Own Adventure Style. Issue no. 34 contains: Computer Stuff: Microzine* data disk initiation

  • F.Y.I.: A Database of Inventions: contains a searchable database of different inventions, and a gameshow quiz where the player must correctly answer who created each invention.

  • Letters: letters from the editor and various readers

  • Monitor Mystery: The Case of the Missing Rose: the player must solve a mystery related to a part of your friend's project missing from the school science fair. The player must answer questions from clues derived from a short story and picture.

  • The Mystery of the Olympic Imposters - You are contacted by detective Friday the 13th, who informs you that 3 Olympic athletes from the tiny country of McCoy have gone missing, and have been replaced with identical imposters. The imposters have been limited to 9 possible athletes, and the player must interview these 9 regarding Olympic facts to determine which are the fakes. The player can check their Olympic computer database to determine if answers are correct. They have 1 hour to solve the mystery. After correctly accusing the correct athletes, the player must discover the kidnapped athletes by searching a variety of rooms in the Olympic Hall of Fame.

  • Secret Sentences: a 1-4 player sentence guessing game. The player tries to fill in a sentence by guessing words, revealing letters, receive hints, or even trying to guess the whole sentence. The player gains 10 points by successfully guessing words, and receives 500 points minus 5 x the number of turns required to solve.
