Old West Poker
Description
Old West Poker is a single-player, mouse controlled simulation of the popular casino machine. It appears in many of eGames compilations including Casino Jackpot 2 which is where this version of the game comes from.
As in a standard poker game the aim of the game is to make the best 5-card hand. Unlike other forms of poker the player does not win by beating other players but by compiling a hand that exceeds the game's minimum hand, which in this case is a pair of jacks, to score.
The game gives the player $1000 to start with and on each hand the player can bet between $1 and $5. They are then dealt five cards and they can hold/discard any of these, however if they are dealt a winning combination such as three of a kind then those cards are held automatically. A second deal is then made to replace the discarded cards and the final hand is evaluated. If the hand scores a pair of jacks or higher then the player is paid a fixed sum depending on the original stake and the game continues.
The F1 key brings up an in-game menu which gives the player access to the in-game help file, game statistics, and toggles both the sound and the auto hold option. The game has a high score table but does not preserve the player's winnings from one game to the next.
