The Cryptic Crossword

Cryptic Crossword is a twist on the traditional crossword puzzle that involves added complexity in the form of wordplay inside the clues. The New Yorker's condensed version consists of an 8 x 10 rectangular grid, and was introduced in print form in 1997 and discontinued in 1999. The puzzles were revived in 2020 on the New Yorker website, with the magazine reprinting the older puzzles in interactive form at first, and then transitioning to brand new puzzles in 2021, published on a weekly basis every Sunday.
