Description
Vici is a 1-player strategy game for the TRS-80.
The Cessa Valley is surrounded by mountains formidable enough to make it nearly impenetrable. The two small states the valley contains, Vici and Arce, are threatened by only each other. Your older brother was the ruler of Vici, but after he died childless, you were brought back to Vici as heir presumptive, and offered the throne.
As your two nations have been locked in perpetual warfare, victory and peace can only be achieved by eliminating the enemy nation.
Game play is divided into seasons. During the fall Harvest Court, the player must ensure enough supplies to feed their population through the year, and can sell extra crop of wheat, sheep, or wine for money. The player can set the tax rate on their population, as well as feed the members of their population who have lost land or livestock from war.
During winter seasons, the player can plan military expeditions, choosing their level of aggression against Arce, as well as expending funds to increase their military size. The goal being to capture increasing amounts of Arce's territory.
Each season has weather elements, which affect their crop outcomes as well as the chances of military success. The player must keep their own population content, while ensuring military success, or their population may go into revolt, and the player is deposed.
The player can compete at 10 levels of handicap.
