Blue Archive

Blue Archive is a gacha game which combines elements of strategy and role-playing games. The story takes place in the fictional city-state of Kivotos, a mysterious and chaotic place which contains thousands of academies. Students in Kivotos belong to various races, including humans, werebeasts, and robots, possess halos that render them highly resistant to damage, and freely carry firearms for self-defense. Players assume the role of a teacher referred to only as "Sensei" who is appointed as an advisor to a peacekeeping authority named SCHALE which tackles the problems that arise among the different academies. Together with the students under his wing, Sensei combats various forces which threaten the city, such as dangerous academies, criminal organizations, rogue AIs, military factions and more.

The gameplay involves collecting and managing a roster of characters, which are primarily obtained through a gacha system. Players form squads of students, each possessing distinct roles and abilities, and deploy them in real-time tactical battles. The combat system requires players to position their characters effectively and use their skills at opportune moments to defeat enemies. Additionally, players must consider team composition, character synergy, and the strengths and weaknesses of their students to succeed. Each student has a unique personality, voice acting, and backstory, which are further explored through personal episodes and relationship-building mechanics.

Blue Archive receives periodical updates, such as seasonal events and crossovers with other franchises which add new characters, stories, and limited-time challenges to the game. The game also features a PvP mode where players can compete against each other using their customized squads.
