Coromon

Game cover: Coromon

Description

Coromon is a single-player role-playing game with monster-collecting and turn-based combat elements.

The story begins with the player taking the role of a new recruit at Lux Solis, a technologically advanced research organization. As a fresh Battle Researcher, the protagonist is tasked with helping the group study and contain strange disturbances affecting the Velua region. Early missions involve investigating mysterious elemental titans that disrupt the balance of the world. The larger objective is to unravel the secrets behind these disturbances while also raising and training a personal squad of creatures known as Coromon.

Gameplay centers on capturing, training, and battling Coromon in turn-based encounters. Players weaken wild creatures in the field before attempting to catch them with spinners, which serve as containment devices. Each Coromon belongs to a type such as Fire, Ice, or Normal, and type matchups influence the effectiveness of attacks. Battles are fought with up to six Coromon in a party, each capable of learning a set of moves that consume stamina points when used. Victory in combat grants experience points, which lead to level-ups and the acquisition of new abilities.

Progression is not limited to levels alone. Coromon have individual potential values that determine their overall growth, with higher-potential creatures marked by special appearances. Players can evolve their Coromon into stronger forms once they meet certain conditions. Equipment and held items add another layer of strategy, allowing creatures to gain passive bonuses or enhanced stats. The protagonist’s own skills can also be adjusted by selecting from a variety of difficulty settings, including custom rules that fine-tune experience rates, resource scarcity, or battle restrictions.

Exploration plays a central role in the experience. Towns, routes, caves, and dungeons are traversed from a top-down perspective, with puzzles, environmental hazards, and story events gating progress. Side quests from non-playable characters provide rewards such as money, items, or rare Coromon. Navigation tools like push modules and surf modules gradually expand the range of accessible areas, encouraging backtracking and discovery.

The game also includes multiplayer functions, allowing players to battle others online with customized teams.
