Description

Microzine is an educational disk-based magazine published by Scholastic between 1983 and 1992. Each issue generally contains a simple adventure game, often with a Choose Your Own Adventure Style. Issue no. 15 contains:

  • Letter from the Editor - A look at this episode of Microzine
  • 2088: An Oval Office Odyssey - A Choose Your Own Adventure style game. The year is 2088, and dolphins and robots have been given the right to vote. People now colonize the Martian surface. The player assumes the role of President of the United States of America, and must successfully run for a 2nd term against their opponents Snood and Hutch. The player must choose their vice-presidential running mate, as their previous one has been lost in time. During the adventure, the player must successfully manage crises while avoiding angering large swaths of American citizens. If the player is successful, their approval ratings will rise, and they will be reelected as president.
  • Computer Stuff - Microzine data disk initiation
  • Keyboarding - A robot themed game to help improve the player's typing speed and skill. Allows practicing full words or specific letters.
  • Roundup - A 1 - 2 player strategy game,where horseshoes and cacti are randomly placed on the screen. The player makes 2 attempts to loop as many horseshoes as possible without looping cacti. Allows for a computer opponent and track high scores.
  • Estimator - The player tries to guess how much time has passed through mentally timing themselves. They also try to guess the temperature on an unmarked thermometer.
