Description

Microzine Jr. is an educational disk-based magazine for students under age 10 published by Scholastic starting in 1988. Each issue generally contains a simple adventure game, often with a Choose Your Own Adventure Style. Issues also contain software to initialize a data disk, as well as letters to the editor. Issue no. 1 contains:* Eye Spy: Look at a picture of the beach and find the 10 things that don't belong.

  • Mask Maker: A program to make a custom mask using a variety hair, face, nose, and mouth varieties.

  • Safari!: An adventure game, where the player goes on Safari in Kenya with the rest of their classroom. The safari leader Joma can transform students into animals. The player can choose to be an elephant, zebra, lion, giraffe, hyena, or rhino. The player works through small vignettes as a member of one of these animals with a series of multiple choice stories. Joma rewards the player if they perform the correct actions throughout the vignette.

  • Talk to B. E. R. T.: The Beginner's Electronic Robot Talker. The player teaches the computer by describing a variety of items. The computer can then differentiate these items by asking the player questions.
