Proteanse

Proteanse is a 1-player arcade game for the BBC Micro.

Materializing on the unexplored oceanic planet Pelagova, the player is suddenly confronted by a horde of Proteans. These multiform creatures plunge down towards the player in suicidal attack waves while dropping lethal Grycon bombs. The player's ship moves horizontally at the bottom of the screen, and fires vertically with laser cannons.

Enemy ships move randomly as they fall towards the bottom of the screen, returning firing towards the player. When a ship reaches the bottom of the screen it immediately jumps back to the top of the screen, and then descends more quickly. When all enemy ships are destroyed the player moves to a higher challenge. The player receives a time bonus on completing a level, and starts with three lives.
