Supernova: Never Surrender

Supernova: Never Surrender is a science fiction-themed multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) that blends traditional lane-based strategy with elements inspired by real-time strategy (RTS) games. It is a re-release of Supernova, a free-to-play title that eventually never left the open beta phase around 2016. This release is entirely free without microtransactions, as a contribution by the developers to the community that supported the alpha and beta releases. In this version that runs on a few servers, everything is unlocked and players have access to all Commanders, Units, Technologies and cosmetic elements.

Set in a distant future where humanity has ventured far beyond its solar system, the game explores a universe destabilized by the sudden appearance of ancient portals. These mysterious structures have introduced the human race to a wider cosmos filled with hostile alien forces and shifting alliances. In this interstellar landscape, players take on the role of powerful commanders from various species and factions, fighting not only for control of the galaxy but also for the survival of their kind.

The game allows players to take direct control over their armies through a system that lets them deploy, upgrade, and customize lane units during battle. These units—ranging from infantry to mechanized and aerial forces—follow a rock-paper-scissors combat structure, adding strategic complexity to each match. Commanders can also modify and enhance their abilities through an equipment system that uses crafted accessories, made by combining loot obtained through gameplay. This layer of customization allows players to tailor their commanders to different strategies and match conditions.

The game features a diverse roster of commanders, including human mech pilots, alien warlords, and mercenaries from the outer edges of known space. Each commander comes with a unique set of abilities, offering a range of playstyles and tactical approaches. A defining feature of the game is the Supremacy ability—a powerful, match-altering move that unleashes ancient, planet-destroying drones capable of turning the tide of battle when used effectively by a coordinated team.
