Tales of Phantasia

Description
The PlayStation remake of Tales of Phantasia on the Destiny engine keeps the same main story with minimal dialogue changes and environmental designs, but was otherwise remade from the ground up. All character sprites have been redrawn to more closely resemble their official illustrations. All voiced roles have been recasted, including the vocalist for the theme song Yume wa Owaranai. The game now has animated FMVs for the intro, ending and select segments in the story campaign.
The gameplay has also seen major changes in this remake. The most significant change in the combat gameplay is how the active character is controlled. Arte activation is no longer determined by proximity to target. Instead, like Tales of Destiny, each bindable arte now corresponds to one of the 4 directional buttons. The commands to reverse formation are now on the same button that also has the additional function to order your other party members to stop following the active character. The "Technical Ring" accessory was also brought over from Tales of Destiny, enabling you to switch to Manual control mode (where your active character doesn't auto run to target when activating artes and you can manually jump by pressing Up run by double tapping Left/Right) or Auto mode (which gives control of your active character to the AI, effectively an auto battle feature). Another feature brought over from Destiny is the addition of a local co-op mode. By equipping party members 2-4 with the new "Channel Ring", players on controllers 2-4 will be given controls of said party members, respectively.
Other content and gameplay changes include:
- A new optional party member - Suzu. She acts as another melee fighter for the player to choose from other than Cress.
- Accompanying with Suzu becoming a party member is a new optional dungeon made specifically for her.
- Chester has been significantly buffed. This remake also adds a new side quest to repair and upgrade his bow to further buff him. This side quest also comes with the addition of a new optional dungeon in Treantwood - where you get the material for the bow upgrade.
- The world map is now rendered in 3D. You can now rotate the camera and walk diagonally while travelling here .
- Face chat - Another feature from Tales of Destiny - where your party members talk to each other on the world map to give a reminder of your next objective and often provide narrative flavor. This content is fully voiced and unlike Destiny, can be manually activated.
- A cameo battle with Lilith from Tales of Destiny has been added in the Euclid Arena.
- A horizontal shoot 'em up minigame called "Groovy Arche" was added in the AC 4354 version of Thor.
- The final boss has one additional phase.
- Out of battle, a special accessory to run is no longer required.
- New features: A bestiary called "Monster List" and an item collection book called "Collector's Book", both automatically obtained during the story. The Monster List gets a new entry each time you use a Magic Lens on a new enemy.
- New feature: A new cooking system that acts as an alternative out-of-combat restorative method to consumable items and Mint's artes.
- New feature: A shortcut that brings you back to the title screen without resetting the console hardware.
