Web War

Web War is a 1-player arcade shooter for the BBC Micro and Electron.

The player is a Defender for the high council of the Web. The once beautiful city of Xylres now lies in ruins from the ravages of the wars that have been waged for the last 1,000 years. The player controls a vessel known as the Flipper, a fast-moving ship that rapidly moves between sections of the Web, armed with a vaporizing laser that energizes the section of the Web it is on, destroying anything in that section.

Enemy ships move from the distance towards the screen. These ships are unarmed, but will cost the player a life if they hit the player. Every enemy ship that escapes the player reduces the bonus score by 10, and if the score hits 0 the player loses a life. The player must destroy 20 aliens to advance to the next level, and this is increased by 1 every 16 sectors cleared. There are 256 sectors to be cleared in total, and the player starts with nine lives.
