20 Minutes Till Dawn

20 Minutes Till Dawn is a single-player roguelike twin-stick shooter game. The player takes the role of one of several armed survivors who must endure relentless waves of monstrous creatures during the night. The objective is to stay alive until dawn, with each run lasting up to twenty minutes in the standard mode or ten minutes in the shorter “Quick Play” variant.

Gameplay is presented from a top-down perspective with free directional aiming and movement. Enemies continuously spawn in large numbers, surrounding the player and applying constant pressure. Combat involves using firearms and magical attacks to clear swarms while evading encirclement. Ammunition management is a key mechanic, requiring the player to reload at the right moment, which can leave them vulnerable if mistimed.

Progression within each run is tied to experience points gained from fallen enemies. These allow the player to select upgrades from a random pool, such as increased attack speed, explosive ammunition, elemental effects, or summonable allies. Upgrades often form synergies, encouraging experimentation with builds that emphasize crowd control, critical damage, or defense. Surviving longer into the night increases enemy density and variety, introducing tougher foes that test the chosen strategy.

Multiple characters and weapons are available, each offering unique starting traits. Characters might specialize in magic, summoning, or gunplay, while weapons vary in fire rate, reload time, and area of effect. Between runs, achievements and unlocks expand the pool of available characters, weapons, and upgrades, giving players more options for subsequent attempts.
