Higurashi: When They Cry - Ch.4: Himatsubushi

Higurashi: When They Cry - Ch.4: Himatsubushi is an updated re-release of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Himatsubushi-hen, the fourth chapter in the Higurashi: When They Cry series of visual novels. This version allows the player to choose updated character sprites in place of the original game's sprites, and to switch between English and Japanese at any time.

Higurashi is a simple visual novel without branching paths or choices, where the player simply advances the text to read the story. After finishing each chapter, the player unlocks a number of optional bonus scenes called "TIPS".

The story in Himatsubushi takes place several years before the events in the other Higurashi episodes. The protagonist is Mamoru Akasaka, a rookie policeman who is summoned to the remote Japanese village of Hinamizawa to look for a kidnapping victim. However, in Hinamizawa he might find more secrets and mysteries than he expected...
