Higurashi: When They Cry Kai - Ch.6: Tsumihoroboshi

Higurashi: When They Cry - Ch.6: Tsumihoroboshi is an updated re-release of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai: Tsumihoroboshi-hen, the sixth chapter in the Higurashi: When They Cry series of visual novels. This version allows the player to choose updated character sprites in place of the original game's sprites, and to switch between English and Japanese at any time.

Higurashi is a simple visual novel without branching paths or choices, where the player simply advances the text to read the story. After finishing each chapter, the player unlocks a number of optional bonus scenes called "TIPS".

Tsumihoroboshi has two viewpoint characters: Keichii Maebara, a teenage boy who has recently moved into the remote Japanese village of Hinamizawa, and his friend Rena Ryuuguu. As Rena's divorced father prepares to remarry, Rena feels unable to accept his new wife. Soon, events escalate and a tragedy occurs.
