Higurashi: When They Cry Kai - Ch.5: Meakashi

Higurashi: When They Cry - Ch.5: Meakashi is an updated re-release of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai: Meakashi-hen, the fifth chapter in the Higurashi: When They Cry series of visual novels. This version allows the player to choose updated character sprites in place of the original game's sprites, and to switch between English and Japanese at any time.

Higurashi is a simple visual novel without branching paths or choices, where the player simply advances the text to read the story. After finishing each chapter, the player unlocks a number of optional bonus scenes called "TIPS".

The protagonist in Meakashi is a feisty, independent heir of a yakuza family, who returns to her home village of Hinamizawa, only to unexpectedly fall in love. However, her romance takes a dark turn.
