Description

Microzine is an educational disk-based magazine published by Scholastic between 1983 and 1992. Each issue generally contains a simple adventure game, often with a Choose Your Own Adventure Style. Issue no. 25 contains:* Cosmic Heroes - A Choose Your Own Adventure style game, where the player has been elected as a trainee member of Sol Searchers, an interplanetary group of super heroes. Your first mission is to track down and defeat the plans of Sirius Lunatik, who has stolen the Soul of the Sun, a jewel that contains all of mankind's knowledge about the solar system. Lunatik has hidden the 4 parts of the gem throughout the solar system, and has provided astronomical clues to their locations. Using an amulet computer, the player must decipher which planets the shards are hidden on, travel there, and collect them. The player takes on a superhero transformation, where they set their character's anti-gravity, nova strength, thermal reflection, and anti-freeze power. These help the player in arcade sequences, where they must grab the gem while avoiding Lunatik's attack. After collecting all 4 shards, the player must travel to Pluto's moon Charon, where Lunatik's secret base is located. There, they must destroy Lunatik's sentient computer, and ruin his plan to take over the world.

  • The Learning Machine - The computer attempts to guess what object the player is thinking of, or vice versa, by asking a number of yes or no questions. The player can teach the computer more information.
  • Blueprint Maker - A program to design and print blueprints.
  • Picture This - This player must find 10 objects that don't belong in a picture of the American Old West
  • Computer Stuff - Microzine data disk initiation
  • Letters - Letters from the editor, the programmer, and various readers
